Safety notice - Masks containing magnets from Resmed

Updated: November 22,2023

Sleep apnea treatment device manufacturer Resmed announced on November 21, 2023, that it is updating existing contraindications and warnings for its sleep therapy masks that contain magnetic headgear clips. Existing warnings have been strengthened and contraindications have been added.

The manufacturer made this update because of the potential risk of injury to patients when they, or anyone in close physical contact with the mask, have implanted metal devices or metal objects in their body that may be affected by magnets.

For people who are not affected by such devices, masks with magnets are safe and can continue to be used.

Affected masks are those used with a CPAP, Autocpap or Bipap device that has magnetic clips. This security notice is for Resmed masks only.
