Enterography MRI
An enterography MRI is an examination that enables us to explore the small intestine in general. It is used for detecting small lesions in the small intestine, or for assessing chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s disease.
Examination procedure
For the examination, we will ask you to:
- Put on a hospital gown and remove your jewelry, along with any metal objects that could affect image quality.
- Lie comfortably on the examination table, so that the technologist can administer a contrast agent such as gadolinium, if required. This agent, injected into the crook of your elbow, allows us to acquire more precise images.
- Remain still for 60 minutes. During this time, the technologist may ask you to hold your breath a few times.
If you wish, you can wear earplugs or headphones. The MRI machine makes a percussion-like noise, which may be unpleasant to some people.
