Absolutely. Your information is personal and private when you use Maple’s services. Maple has a comprehensive security infrastructure and stringent data policies to ensure that your personal and health information stays private and secure; visit getmaple.ca/privacy for more details.
Can I share my consultation data with my family doctor?
Yes – you can easily digitally fax any treatment records that occur on the Maple app directly to your family physician or any other healthcare providers. You can also download these records as a PDF right from the platform.
Is Maple safe?
Yes. Just like an in-person visit, or a telephone conversation, the General Practitioner is responsible for assessing your situation, understanding your medical history, asking you questions about your symptoms, and providing treatment accordingly. If the General Practitioner cannot help on Maple, they will let you know to visit a clinic or a hospital instead (e.g. if you require testing).
Is there anything that cannot be treated using virtual care?
The decision about whether a medical issue is appropriate for virtual care (rather than in person care) will ultimately be up to the treating provider on Maple. Below are some examples of conditions that typically cannot be treated virtually:
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- A broken limb
- Bleeding
- Major trauma
- Prescribing narcotics or controlled medications
- Medical emergencies
