Kidney Cells
Kidney cells are cells that cover the wall of the kidney tubules. A small number are found in normal urine. Any damage to the kidney tubules that causes separation (desquamation) of the cells on the tubule surface will manifest in a high number of kidney cells in the urine specimen (acute tubular necrosis, interstitial nephritis, proliferative glomerulonephritis).
