Dacryocytes
Dacryocytes are red cells that have a tapered end (in the shape of a pear, tear or tennis racquet). They are found in thalassemia (hereditary defect in the production of one of the two parts of hemoglobin) and in primary myelofibrosis, which is the infiltration of fibrous tissue in the bone marrow accompanied by splenomegaly (enlarged spleen).
