SARS-CoV-2 screening
COVID-19 molecular PCR testing
Molecular test that identifies individuals potentially infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the time of testing. This polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) looks for viral RNA in a sample of secretions from the nose and throat (oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab).
Take this test at Biron if you :
- are over 2 years old,
- wish to have regular monitoring of your condition to protect people in your environment who are considered more vulnerable (e.g., you live with an immunosuppressed person).
So you can:
- quarantine to protect everyone around you in case of infection.
Specimen Type: Oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swab
A positive result: indicates that SARS-CoV-2 RNA has been detected and that you are considered infected with COVID-19 and presumably contagious.
A negative result: means that SARS-CoV-2 RNA was not present in your sample. You are not infected with COVID-19.
